The Emerge Colorado training program is a unique opportunity for Democratic women who want to run for public office. It is the only in-depth, 100-hour training program that gives women the tools to run and win, including both campaign nuts and bolts and the mental-health support needed to run a successful campaign. Throughout your training, you will be exposed to a variety of campaign and election experts. You will meet an array of dynamic women who hold elected and appointed office. Through Emerge, you are given specific opportunities to expand your political network. As an Emerge Alum, you become a part of a supportive network that includes a national network of Emerge alumnae, Emerge board, and advisory council members.
Participants meet over several weekends and receive comprehensive training on the following topics:
Emerge trainers are comprised of a premiere team of campaign consultants, advisors, and staff from all over the country. Many of them have been involved in some of the most successful campaigns and initiatives we’ve seen in recent election cycles. They come from backgrounds that span fundraising, direct mail, field strategy, communications, press management, and campaign messaging. They have won races from the city council to the governor’s mansion.
We need your participation to start a revolution! We’re looking for women who are engaged in their communities and want to effect change. Whether you’re thinking of running for local school board or the U.S. Senate. We can help you get ready to run!
Training will take place on weekends and weekdays during the evening from August through December.
Emerge Colorado, seeks Democratic women who are committed to effective political leadership and are interested in running for elective office and who have:
Emerge Colorado will select candidates from across the state who meet the above criteria and who we believe have the potential to be political leaders.
Emerge embraces diversity and encourages applications from all women and non-binary people regardless of age, race, color, national or ethnic origin, marital status, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or physical ability. Our mission to build the bench of Democrats ready to run for office acknowledges both systemic and historic barriers to running for office and the barriers women impose on themselves.

The success of the Emerge Colorado program depends upon the commitment to the program’s entire schedule by each participant. Over the five-month period, approximately 70 program hours are scheduled. Some time outside of regularly scheduled trainings will be necessary for homework and training preparation. While emergencies sometimes arise, attendance at the first day of training is mandatory and absence for any reason will result in a deferral to the following year.
Emerge Colorado will review completed written applications and select finalists for in-person interviews. Finalists will be invited to attend an interview with the selection committee.
A non-refundable application fee of $25 is required and must be submitted along with a completed application. Application waivers are available upon request.
Tuition for the six-month program is $750. Payment plans are available and Emerge Colorado will assist program members with fundraising their tuition if needed. Financial need should not be a barrier to applying to the program.
The program is hybrid and will include virtual and in-person days.
