Denver Performance: Call Me Mrs. Evers
December 03, 2021 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Mountain Time (MST)
Emerge Colorado hosted a sneak-peak performance of the powerful one-woman play, Call Me Mrs. Evers, at our 2021 Trailblazers Reception in September, and now we are thrilled to share the full performance will return to Denver this December! Join us on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4 for the highly anticipated performance of Call Me Mrs. Evers.
Call Me Mrs. Evers is a one-woman play, telling the story of Myrlie Evers, wife of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers and the first woman to chair the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). This play is the newest edition of the Iconic Women Theatre Series, a selection of plays that present the life story of women that have not received the historical recognition they deserve.

The dramatic presentation of the life of Myrlie Evers begins on the horrific night her husband, civil rights leader Medgar Evers, was assassinated on the driveway of the family home.
Myrlie Evers remains involved in the social justice movement today and is an unsung hero of the women’s rights movement. This performance highlights her story, one of a trailblazing woman, empowered wife, and social justice champion.
“I still believe in hope, not hate.” — Myrlie Evers-Williams
