Premiere at Denver’s 44th Film Festival: Running with my Girls

Join Emerge Colorado at our pre-film reception at Bar Max. This will be an opportunity to spend the hour before the show with women who ran for their community.

Our reception is open to everyone, no sponsorship is required, but space is limited.

Dress Code: Come feeling comfortable and looking your best, whatever that means to you!

Parking: There is a free parking garage adjacent to the Sie FilmCenter.

Refreshments: We will have limited hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

COVID Protocol: Proof of vaccination status and face coverings are required inside unless actively eating or drinking. You can download Colorado’s official state app to keep a digital copy of your vaccine record here. We will have masks, hand sanitizer, and gratitude to share with everyone!

Film Premiere: We will transition from the reception to the Sie FilmCenter at 6:30 where Denver Film Festival COVID-19 wristbands will be issued with proof of FULL vaccination and ID. Face coverings are required inside unless actively eating or drinking. Concessions and drinks will be available for purchase. The premiere is sold out but tickets are still available for November 12 followed by a reception. Online streaming is also available.

This film gives a behind-the-scenes look into women candidates breaking barriers in local politics. Tired of watching their communities be ignored and displaced, five female activists decided to run for municipal office in Denver–one of the fastest gentrifying cities in the country. Filmed by their friend, director Rebekah Henderson, each candidate’s story provides an intimate and unfiltered look at the challenges faced by political outsiders, particularly women of color. With only a fraction of the funds of their incumbent opponents, the women tirelessly knock doors, make calls, and rely on each other to power their grassroots campaigns.
