New House Majority Elects Emerge Colorado Alums to Key Leadership Positions

Denver, CO—Colorado House Democrats today elected six Emerge Colorado alumnae and former members of the Board of Directors to key leadership positions:

  • Rep. Alec Garnett, Speaker of the Colorado House, former board member
  • Rep. Daneya Esgar, Majority Leader, alumna
  • Rep. Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, Assistant Majority Leader, alumna
  • Reps. Meg Froelich and Lisa Cutter, Majority Caucus Co-Chairs, former board member and alumna respectively
  • Rep. Monica Duran, Majority Caucus Co-Whip, alumna

“Voters elected the most women to the state House in Colorado’s history, and we’re grateful the Democratic caucus is recognizing and elevating the leadership of women in their ranks,” said Michal Rosenoer, Executive Director of Emerge Colorado. “Women voters are the backbone of Democratic electoral wins across Colorado, and women deserve to be at the top of the leadership team for the caucus. COVID-19 and the impacts both on public health and the economy have hit women – and especially working women – the hardest; the House Democrats have made some great choices today to ensure a diversity of perspectives as they plot a recovery for Colorado.”
