Applications for Our 2022 Signature Training Program are Closed.

Please read through all of the information below in its entirety. It is important to have a complete understanding of the application process and training program before you apply. The deadline to apply for our 2022 Class has passed. Stay tuned for upcoming boot camps and other training opportunities!

Six-month program information:

We encourage you to begin your application well in advance of the closing date due to the detailed nature of the application.

Who Should Apply?

Emerge Colorado seeks Democratic women who are committed to effective political leadership, are interested in running for elective office, and who have:

  • Evidence of political, public policy, workplace, or community leadership;
  • Ability and desire to build effective networks;
  • Ability to articulate a personal political vision;
  • Commitment to equity and openness to diverse viewpoints;
  • Commitment to full participation and attendance requirements of the trainings;
  • Applicants must reside in the state of Colorado.

Each year Emerge Colorado will select a cohort of women from across the state as candidates for our six-month Signature Program.

Emerge embraces diversity and encourages applications from all women regardless of age, race, color, national or ethnic origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or physical ability. Currently, 45% of our alumnae are women of color and over 30% are LGBTQ. Our mission to build the bench of Democratic women ready to run for office acknowledges both the systemic and historic barriers to running for office as well as the internalized barriers women experience. We highly encourage women of the New American Majority – Black women, Indigenous Women, Women of Color, LGBTQI+ women and nonbinary individuals, disabled women, young women, and women from other underrepresented communities to apply.

To be considered for the 2022 Emerge Colorado training program, applicants must complete a written application by the deadline as posted in the application. Written applications will be evaluated by a selection committee and qualified applicants will be invited to a video interview in November. Invitations to join the 2022 class will be extended by the first week of December.

Time Commitment

The success of the Emerge Colorado program depends upon commitment to the program’s entire schedule by each participant. Over the six-month period, approximately 100 program hours are scheduled. Some time outside of regularly scheduled trainings will be necessary for homework and training preparation. Regular attendance is essential to being a successful graduate of the program. If a scheduling conflict arises, notify the Political Training Director as soon as possible to address gaps in attendance that may impede successful completion, or to provide support with unforeseen circumstances. Please review the schedule below to ensure your availability to attend every training day.

2022 Training Details and Dates

The 2022 program will be a hybrid model of both in-person and online trainings. In-person trainings will be held in Denver, Colorado. We are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic may require fully online programming to keep our participants safe, and we are prepared to do that if necessary.

Class trainings will run during one weekend of each month, typically from 8:00am – 3:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Optional weeknight trainings may also be offered.

April 30th and May 1st
June 11th and 12th

Interviews

Emerge Colorado will review completed written applications and select finalists for interviews. Finalists will be invited to attend a scheduled interview with the selection committee starting the first week of November. We will schedule 30-minute in-person and virtual interviews for candidates generally from 3:30-6:30pm on weeknights, and also offer limited weekend interview slots. We will make every effort to offer flexible scheduling options to interview all potential candidates.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $35 is requested. However, due to the generous support of Emerge and contributors to the Cynthia Brashears Wake Scholarship Fund, we do have limited financial assistance available to help cover fees, tuition, and related costs. Please check the fee waiver box if requesting a scholarship.

Tuition

Tuition for the six-month program is $1,000. Payment plans are available and Emerge Colorado will assist program members with fundraising their tuition if needed and spreading it out over multiple months. Financial need should not be a barrier to applying to the program. To that end, we invite participants to apply for full or partial scholarships by checking the scholarship box on the application.

The six-month program will take place in person in Denver with a virtual option during the six training weekends. We highly encourage women from outside of the Denver metro area to apply, and have limited scholarship funding to assist with travel costs, lodging accommodations, or child care stipends.
